The Power of the Poster, V&A, Millenial Galleries, Sheffield
I worked closely with UV Architects to produce layouts and graphic materials for this major exhibition for the V&A in Sheffield.
Posters are a powerful means of communication. They have the power to compel and persuade us, to shock and intrigue us, and sometimes even provoke us into action. To work, their images must grab out attention and be memorable. Their design can reflect changing cultural values and codes of behaviour. This exhibition aimed to show the power and appeal of the poster, and its role in the art of persuasion in many different countries, up to the present day.
The exhibition was divided into four sections: Pleasure and Leisure; Protest and Propaganda; Commerce and Communication; and Double Take - an overview of the culture and production of posters.
